Cruising the Black Sea can be very watery
Sailing in the Black Sea can be a fantastic experience, but before the trip you need to get some information about the location(s). The funny thing about the Black Sea is it’s location as an almost completely isolated island sea. It lies between southeastern Europe and Turkey. Only the Bosporus Strait connects it to the Sea of Marmara. The shape of the Sea is very similar to the shape of “another” island - Australia.
The maximum depth of the sea is 2,200 meters. The depth under 200 meters is totally lifeless because of a special condition called anoxia. But above that level, there are tons of wildlife. This is the reason the coastal areas have always been quite well developed. Greeks have colonized the area in very early stages of human history - in the Bronze Age. Legend tells us that the Black Sea used to be a completely fresh water lake.
Black Sea has many extremes and is much more watery than the Mediterranean. The waves are also more ocean-like and are very common even when it’s not windy.
